Medical Charity, the Miracle of Hope
Gangneung is a rising medical tourism destination. It has also become a base for medical charity. Local hospitals invite disadvantaged patients from around the world to treat not only their illnesses, but also their minds. Victoria Park from Kazakhstan and Viktor Anpirov from Russia are two such patients.
Victoria Park has been afflicted by a hip disorder since she was young. Being a single mom, she has to work non-stop to ensure the well-being of her household, but even walking is an arduous task.
Viktor Anpirov is battling stage four of spinal cancer. First diagnosed with cancer in early 2014, he has been battling the constant attacks of cancer cells that spread fast to other organs.
Then, a miracle happened for them in Korea.
Park underwent a hip joint replacement operation while Anpirov's cancer was declared to be in remission following six rounds of treatment.
The two have no relatives in Korea, but have had no problems communicating with their doctors in Korea thanks to their coordinators.
They have also attained spiritual healing through Gangneung's cultural and natural offerings.
Will they be able to return home healthier than ever?
