If one Montana representative gets his way, walking around his state while wearing yoga pants could get people in trouble with the law.

If one Montana representative gets his way, walking around his state while wearing certain yoga pants could get people in trouble with the law.

Republican David Moore submitted a bill that seeks to amend the state’s indecent exposure law by including certain garments.

The bill not only states that exposing one’s genitals, pubic hair, anus or nipple area is a criminal offense, but also prohibits wearing any clothing giving either the appearance or simulation of the same regions.

Though some yoga pants certainly fit that description, the bill doesn’t call out the garment in particular.

Following the hearing at which it was presented however, Moore reportedly did note that they “should be illegal in public anyway”.

The drafting of the legislation was inspired by a nude cycling event that passed through downtown Missoula in August.
