Cloudy, dusty precipitation isn’t uncommon in the area, but it tends to occur exclusively in the summer months.

Further, when it does pour down, the droplets aren’t typically the milky white and gray variety they were this time around.

Little is known about the burst and among the only definite pieces of information meteorologists are working with is that the storm came in from the Pacific.

Possible explanations thus far are linked to volcanic activity occurring in Russia and Mexico.

That the inclusions originated closer to home isn’t being ruled out, however.
