Baby Girl Born 'Pregnant' With Twins

Occasionally, doctors and parents get a shock during seemingly routine births. Researchers recently highlighted one unusual case from 2010, in which a newborn girl in China came into the world "pregnant" with twins.

Occasionally a human birth is anything but ordinary. A recent report highlighted a rare case from 2010, in which a baby girl born in Hong Kong was found to be carrying twin fetuses.

The study surrounding the birth has been chronicled in the Hong Kong Medical Journal. The roughly 9-pound infant was born with a condition known as fetus in fetu.

Initially, doctors thought she had tumors in her abdomen, but soon discovered the two growths were actually a pair of fetuses, aged between 8 and ten weeks.

Each was found to have a rib cage, spine, anus, an umbilical cord, brain matter, intestines and four limbs. The fetuses weighed less than an ounce combined.
