'Don't steal apples', and other messages to take away from the Grammys

With each year that passes the focus of the Grammy Awards appears to be less and less on the music.

Yes, people are interested in the night’s big winners and losers but, as well as performances, the stage now shares the spotlight with celebrities airing their political agendas.

So, what messages were we supposed to take away from the 57th annual edition?

Only Beyoncé deserves an award

OK, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but Kanye West certainly seems to enjoy fighting Beyoncé‘s cause.

At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the rapper crashed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech. Grabbing the mic from the singer, he notoriously said:

“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’m (going to) let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”

Fast forward nearly six years and a similar scene unfolded. Audience members looked mildly horrified as West jumped on stage during Beck’s acceptance speech for the ‘Album of the Year’ award. While he didn’t say
