Thousands of Spanish families turn to food banks

In Spain, more than 1.5 million people sought assistance from Food Banks during 2014 and the figure continues to rise. Most of the food earmarked for poor families come from private supermarkets but independent associations say the product donated have expired or are about to expire while other items rot on the shelves of private supermarkets due to fewer customers as a result of the economic crisis. teleSUR
