At least 34 people have been killed and scores injured in three seperate bomb attacks in Baghdad.
The first blast claimed 22 lives and injured 50 people in a restaurant in the Shi’ite New Baghdad district.
The other explosions happened in two different markets, one in the centre of the capital and the other in southern Baghdad.
One eyewitness described what happened in the restaurant: “In a local restaurant in the New Baghdad area , a suicide bomber walked into the middle of the crowd eating in the place. He cried “Allahu Akbar” and exploded.
The carnage comes just hours before the government was due to lift a long-standing overnight curfew in the city.
The Authorities wanted the move to indicate that life was returning back to normal in Baghdad now that the threat from ISIL militants had been repelled.
