Fast-food chain Taco Bell began a social media campaign and a petition to attempt to convince the Unicode Consortium that a taco emoji must be included in their update.
There are plenty of food emojis available to be added to text messages, including steak and pizza. Now a taco emoji is in the running to be added.
Fast food chain Taco Bell is fully supporting it, starting both a social media campaign and a petition on Change.org to add a taco to the current emojis available.
So far, almost 27,000 people have signed the petition. To further their cause, the company has also unveiled "Taco Emoji" t-shirts, retailing for $22.99.
This is all because the non-profit organization in charge of computer text, Unicode Consortium, announced in November 2014 that 37 new emoticons had been submitted for consideration when they update their system.
A taco is amongst those 37, which also include prayer beads, racially diverse faces and a cricket bat.
