Millions of Tiny Red Crabs Migrate on Christmas Island

2015-01-28 3

Every year millions of tiny red crabs cross Christmas Island from forest to sea in order to reproduce. The adults remain at the coast for one week before travelling back to the forest. Approximately four to five weeks later, once the crab larvae have sufficiently developed, the offspring will follow their parents’ trail and return home. It almost seems as if the entire ground is moving in this footage due to the huge number of crabs. Credit: YouTube/Lennyt
