A new report in the Electronic Times from Korea about the Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) division has sneakily dropped in a mention that the Samsung Galaxy S6 release date has been rescheduled for ''2-3 weeks earlier than originally planned.''
The news is a huge bombshell, not least because it was mentioned so casually in a rather boring industry piece about Samsung's optics lab and their 20 Mega Pixel OIS camera module that will benefit SEM, but also because it means Samsung is looking at an accelerated release to follow the unveiling of the Galaxy S6 at MWC 2015 on March 2nd.
The report states that the demand for the 20 Mega Pixel OIS module increased recently, and to our minds at least, the only device capable of sustaining the demand and price tag for such a camera module is the Galaxy S6. We're slightly puzzled by the past tense used in the report, but we're fully expecting the Galaxy S6 to appear on March 2nd with a 20 mega pixel OIS camera.
The exact release date we're not entirely sure of yet, but if this report is true, it could be as soon as late March, considering the Galaxy S5 took 6 weeks to arrive to market following its announcement (from February 24th – April 11th, 2014)
