The highly regarded women's footwear designer, Vince Camuto has passed away. According to reports, he died on Wednesday at his Greenwich, Connecticut residence at the age of 78.

His death comes after a battle with cancer. Although his physical presence is gone, his legacy, especially in the fashion industry continues to live on.

Camuto was only 18 years old when he started working in the field. Then, he took a job at I. Miller, where his responsibility was handling customer grievances.

In his 30s he joined forces with Jerome Fisher to create the brand Nine West.

The pair built the company which later turned into an empire and sold it for roughly 900 million dollars to Jones Group Incorporated in the late 1990s.
