A German hostage, kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram militants in Nigeria, has been freed following a raid by Cameroon’s military.

Arriving at Yaounde airport Eberhard Robert Nitsch, spoke of his six month ordeal

“I honestly felt that I would be killed in the end. Because the whole time they were saying: Sit down, sit down here. Sit down and always when I sat down everything was dark, everything was dark. And then you don’t know what is going to happen to you. Sit down, stand here, go there. Honestly, this caused me so much stress.”

According to the German embassy in Nigeria, the 69-year-old was a teacher in Gombi town in Adawama state in northern Nigeria when he was kidnapped last July.
