Bolivia balances fight against drugs with traditional use of coca

2015-01-21 2

The Bolivian Government plans to destroy 10,000 hectares of coca crops this year as part of its international commitment to fight drugs but plans to keep 20,000 hectares for traditional consumption. Each peasant farmer is allowed to grow a 40 x 40 plot and any surplus is destroyed by the government only after it has discussed it with the farmers themselves. teleSUR
