Public opinion was fast to say we'd all suffer due to insufficient consumer protection laws in the US. But it now seems that the EU wants to lower standards governing the banks and finance markets in the US in a bid to create better international opportunities for European banks. And banking associations seem to have successfully exerted influence on the TTIP negotiations.
