Peru: Mass protests slam youth labor law

2015-01-17 8

A fourth round of protests aimed at newly approved labor legislation that will reduce benefits for young workers took place Thursday night. Some 5,000 protesters were dispersed by police using tear gas. The legislation, approved in mid-December, cuts salaries, vacation time, severance pay and other job benefits for young workers. The government says it will make such workers more attractive to companies and create more jobs. Rael Mora reports from Lima. teleSUR
