Deadly car accidents can occur at the most unexpected times. A woman in Long Island was recently killed by her own vehicle and she wasn’t even in the driver’s seat.

The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Jennifer Feuerman, who worked as a realtor. According to police, Feuerman got out of the vehicle while it was running on Saturday evening.

The newer model Mercedes-Benz was reportedly still in gear and it backed up leaving her trapped underneath.

Feuerman was pronounced dead at the scene. The fatal accident reportedly occurred on a residential street where she had a home listed for sale.

It’s unclear at this time why she got out of the vehicle while it was running and in gear. An investigation has been launched into the tragic case.

Feuerman’s vehicle was impounded so it can be checked over for potential safety issues that could have played a role in the accident.

The victim leaves behind a husband and one son, who graduated from high school in 2013.
