Kenyan High Court suspends parts of new security law

2015-01-02 3

Kenya's High Court has suspended a number of controversial anti-terrorism measures signed into law just two weeks ago. Rights groups say 8 clauses are a threat to basic liberties and free speech. Also, a clinic treating gang-rape victims in DR Congo has had its accounts frozen for alleged tax fraud. And scores of FDLR rebels in the DRC have been surrendering to the UN. But as an ultimatum for them to lay down their arms passes, around 1,500 of them remain at large.
