U2 frontman Bono might not be able to fully embrace his musical talents again. The 54-year-old revealed that because of a cycling accident, he believes playing guitar in the future will be greatly difficult, maybe even impossible.

He posted a letter to his fans explaining the problems he’s facing. In it, Bono explains “Recovery has been more difficult than I thought. As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor western civilization are depending on this.”

Although the message was rather depressing to his many fans, Bono is not quite ready to give up hope. He said he would be extremely disappointed if he wasn’t able to play his beloved guitars again and also mentioned that he will have to work very hard for the upcoming U2 tour.

Currently, the lead singer is unable to move around on his own. The bike accident occurred in New York’s Central Park in November of last year.

He suffered from a number of injuries as a result, including fractures to his elbow, shoulder blade and even his eye socket.
