Two people were found in a closet on Daytona State College’s campus and then arrested for trespassing.

A man and a woman found in a janitor's closet on Daytona State College’s campus were arrested for trespassing.

They’d been in the tight space, located in the Marine and Environmental Science Center, for about two days.

Upon discovering, freeing, and taking them into custody, Daytona Beach officers did some investigating into the situation.

They found that when closet doors were closed they didn’t latch shut, and determined that the duo probably could have gotten out at any time.

Though police personnel looked for drugs in the immediate area, none were found.

Officers did report seeing human feces and the type of copper scrubbing pads sometimes used for crack smoking.

The couple said they hid in the closet because they were being chased, but were unable to identify the people who were after them.

In addition to trespassing, one of the individuals was charged with a parole violation.

The restriction had been placed upon her in 2013 when she resisted arrest.

Her companion has a heftier criminal record, which includes the offenses of drug possession, fleeing law enforcement, and armed burglary.
