ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: North Korea's state-run television KRT aired footage showing its leader Kim Jong Un steering a plane by himself.
In the video, Kim was at the controls of the plane in a cockpit and encouraged by North Korean pilots.
KRT did not specify the exact date or location of event.
Kim was appointed as a Supreme Commander of its 1.2 million-strong military in 2011, just after the state's former leader and his father Kim Jong Il died.
North Korea, whose military is pursuing a nuclear arms program, is technically still at war with the South Korea and is suffering from chronic food shortages.
