Bloomberg Politics reports that one of the president’s recent golf outings ended up displacing a couple’s wedding.
President Obama and his family are in the midst of their 16-day Hawaiian vacation, and despite some rain have gotten out and enjoyed a lot of what the state has to offer.
In the Commander in Chief’s case that’s included some golf, but, according to Bloomberg News, one of his outings ended up displacing a couple’s wedding.
The two Army captains being married on Sunday, December 28th had booked space at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
On the day before the event they were informed that because the president was planning to play a round, they’d have to be relocated from their first choice spot.
When scheduling the event, they had been told that just such a thing was a possibility.
In an amusing twist, the couple had originally invited the president to share in their big day, but received a letter extending his regrets the same day they were informed of their venue relocation.
It’s unclear if Obama knew ahead of time that he was disrupting their wedding, but he did call the newlyweds afterwards to give an apology and a message of congratulations.
