Jack Daniels Leather of Louisiana recently had a son, and to keep the whiskey theme going, named him Jim Beam.

The practice of whiskey making and drinking goes back centuries, but the traditions it has inspired aren’t all about distilling and imbibing.

Jack Daniels Leather of Louisiana recently had a son, and to keep the whiskey theme going, named him Jim Beam.

He and his wife, Lydia, had been planning to do so since their first date.

Jack’s own name selection was quite a bit more impromptu.

He said “My parents decided they wanted to name their son something to make their parents mad. And, at the time, my dad was drinking Jack, which he enjoyed. My mom said, 'Why not?' ”

The new mom and dad want to make the spirits-inspired monikers a family tradition.

They’ve already lined up some possible options for their future offspring.

If the next one’s a boy, he’ll most likely be dubbed Evan Williams.

Should the couple end up with a girl, she’ll be called Sherry, after the wine.

Their commitment to the matter isn’t limited to their present and future children.

When they were married their wedding was officiated by Judge Johnny Walker.

The couple has gotten some negative comments about naming their newborn after a bourbon, but that hasn’t derailed their plans or dampened their enthusiasm.
