The cash grab that ensued after an armored vehicle dropped 2.4 million dollars in large bills onto a Hong Kong highway has resulted in arrests.

A couple that was riding in a cab at the time of the incident was taken into custody, but they were only two of many who took advantage of the situation.

On Christmas Eve, a transport van dropped three crates of cash onto an 8-lane road.

The mishap resulted in a multi-million dollar flurry and loads of people getting out of their cars and off the sidewalks to come grab what they could.

Initially it was unclear if they were filling their pockets or giving authorities a hand with the big job of collecting the bills.

After a bit of time passed, it became clear that many people were taking the money for personal use.

It’s not known how the accident happened, but authorities are looking into possible causes.

Police immediately warned those who grabbed the money they had best return it or there could be consequences.

They are now in the process of making good on that promise.
