Anti police violence demonstrators were back on the streets of New York city Tuesday night despite pleas from the mayor to give it a rest.
Carrying signs and shouting familiar slogans, demonstrators say its important their message isn't lost in the aftermath of last week's NYPD shootings.

"Some cops have been shot apparently, by a crazed individual. It is necessary not to let that action become the face of this whole series of events because it's still young black men that are taking a beating in getting shot and in fact cops are relatively safe, it's not about their suffering, the suffering of the cops."
For weeks, demonstrators here and across the country have been protesting police violence after grand juries in New York and Missouri decided NOT to indict white police officers in the killings of unarmed black men earlier this year.
