The hardest part of racing simulation versus real-life racing is learning a track. With monitors, it takes a lot of time. Despite the added immersion feeling of the DK1, it took even more time. Let's see, with the increased resolution, low persistence and positional tracking of the DK2, if we finally have a way to cut down the time it takes to learn a new track.
In this experiment I used Sonoma Raceway in iRacing, driving on it with the "circa-2011" Indycar. The track was specifically chosen because I've never driven it before, and from the looks of things it's not an easy circuit, especially not for a fresh newcomer.
The results are both interesting and highly encouraging! Watch on!
