Venezuelans reject the US sanctions against their country announced today as an imposition against their sovereignty. They accuse Barack Obama of a double standard--opening relations with Cuba on the one hand, while opening a new stage of attacks against Venezuela on the other. The US actions against Venezuelan officials are in reference to the nation's response to the acts of violence in January in Caracas that left 43 people dead and hundreds wounded. The sanctions are considered to be another act of United States imperialism and colonialism, and part of an ongoing economic and media campaign to punish Venezuela. teleSUR.
