For the second straight day today (December 16) Rajya Sabha failed to transact any business as a combined opposition created ruckus over the "explosive" and "emotive" issue of conversions and government's move to hold events in schools on Christmas. The Opposition unitedly voiced concern and wanted no less than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself to assure the House and the country that action would be taken against such acts. Opposition parties seem to be orchestrating chaos, and in the process created uncertainty on the fate of crucial economic legislations. As a result of the deadlock, the Insurance Bill, a key reform legislation providing for raising FDI cap from 26 per cent to 49 per cent, could not be introduced in the House even though it was listed on the agenda. The Congress is doing the same thing that it accused the BJP of doing while it was in Power. Can India afford this continuing orchestrated chaos in Parliament?
