Timothy Poole, a 43-year-old registered sex offender, won 3 million dollars in Florida’s Super Millions scratch-off game.

One lottery winner in Florida has gotten a lot of extra attention, and for the most part it’s not been good.

Timothy Poole, a 43-year-old living in Mount Dora, was photographed holding a great big check after winning 3 million dollars in Florida’s Super Millions scratch-off game.

As the image spread, so did the news that Poole is a registered sexual offender.

In 1999 he was charged with the sexual battery of a 9-year-old boy, and, although he denied having done it, he did eventually plead guilty to attempting the crime.

He wasn’t initially sent to jail as he was given a sentence of time served, but a probation violation led to his being incarcerated in 2003.

That’s not the only crime or prison term connected with the lottery winner.

In total, he’s reportedly been charged with 12 instances of violating the law, some of which were for fraud and theft. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Poole plead guilty to sexual battery of two boys in 2002.

His record, however, does not prevent him from collecting his prize money, as Florida has no such exclusionary law on the books.
