Dutch actress Manon Ossevoort has finally realized her dream of driving to the South Pole on a tractor.

She and the red Massey Ferguson MF 5610 she was on made it to their destination 17 days after departing from a Russian base station in Antarctica.

The larger journey, however, started long before that.

It’s been about a decade since Ossevoort first jumped in a tractor and headed out of Holland.

4 years later she’d finally made it to Cape Town, South Africa, but missed the boat that was supposed to carry her and her vehicle to the icy southern continent.

Discouraged, she returned home but didn’t abandon her goal.

Thanks to funding and assistance from sponsors such as Massey Ferguson she was finally able to get her feet and wheels on Antarctic land.

While she’d made the previous trek through Africa on her own, she had some help with the polar leg of the journey.

Accompanying her were a mechanic, two companions, a couple of drivers and a creative director.

Ossevort is hoping she can make it back to the the Antarctic coast and then to Holland in time for Christmas.

She plans to start heading back once she’s finished building a snowman next to the South Pole’s marker.
