The Sterns "Buffer Zone"

Buffer Zone (Alex Stern) My hometown of Brookline suffered the wrath of an anti-abortion nutcase in the mid 1990’s. Traveling by streetcar, John Salvi slaughtered clinic secretaries on behalf of a pro-life movement that never even drafted him. This prompted the passing of “Buffer Zone” legislation; the unconstitutional barring of free speech within 18 feet of the entrance to a clinic. The debate over abortion has become so overwrought with zeal as to cause both sides to resort to irrational tactics. The second half of the song addresses the most unwelcome visit by “Operation Rescue,” to Brookline High School.
