Chivalry: Medieval Warfare has come at last to Xbox 360. Witness console gameplay from Chivalry in Sirs Mike and Jane hit each other with swords and do some regiciding.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a first-person fighting game in which knights smack each other with old timey melee weapons while no-good dirty-rotten archers take pot shots from afar. Sometimes a limb or a head will pop off. It is as hilarious as it is grisly and has come finally to the Xbox 360.
A precise, demanding combat system lies beneath the breezily brutal action, in which tense, one-on-one battlefield encounters are always poised to teeter into chaotic mosh pits as everyone else piles in, swinging.
In the video above we sample a two-player duel, a multiplayer free-for-all and a bracing objective-based match. In the latter, we dump a cart of corpses in the enemy's water supply and kill all the king's descendants. A good day's work.
As a 2012 PC game from a tiny indie developer, Chivalry shows its roots with its cod medieval visuals, which are basic though effective. They also bring to mind the schlocky effects and budget period scene-setting of Monty Python and the Holy Grail better than high-fidelity whiz-bang possibly could.
