Senate report details CIA torture techniques

2014-12-10 3

The US Senate Intelligence Committee's five-year investigation into the CIA's, interrogation program following the September 11 attacks details extensive use of waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and inhuman jail conditions. The report says such methods were largely ineffective for gathering intelligence that could prevent other terrorist attacks. Furthermore, secret prisons were maintained in third countries where "enhanced interrogation techniques", a euphemism for torture, were extensively used. The report also accused the CIA of not being truthful in its reports to Congress, the White House, and the public. Alexandra Hall reports from Washington. teleSUR
