A damning report by the US Senate Intelligence Committee was highly critical of the Central Intelligence Agency's post-September 11 "agressive interrogation techniques". Detainees were held for up to 180 hours without sleep, and subject to waterboarding and other forms of torture, none of which yielded the desired results.
