The oldest jail in the state of Texas is Huntsville Prison. Huntsville has the dubious distinction of having more prisoners than any other city in Texas, nine in total. The state has more people in jail than any other place in the world. For privately run prisons, which house a disproportionate percentage of Latinos, more criminals means more money.
