Mexico says DNA tests indicate forty-three trainee teachers abducted by corrupt police 10 weeks ago were likely incinerated at a garbage dump by a gang.

Officials say they will open an international investigation led by experts representing the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

The students went missing on the night of 26 September after police opened fire on the buses in which they were leaving the city of Iguala.

The scandal has sparked mass anti-government protests ever since.
