BELGAUM: Former MLA and Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj staged protest by sleeping in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Belgaum here on Saturday demanding the government to make maximum use of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. He urged the government to send five ministers, once in a month to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, so that the existence of such a huge building will have some meaning.

Police resisted Vatal Nagaraj entering Suvarna Vidhana Soudha premise, but later after bringing it to the notice of their higher ups, they permitted him to enter Suvarna Vidhana Soudha premise. He staged protest by sleeping in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha for few minutes and later urged the chief minister to take suitable steps to give new dimension to the neglected Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 400 crore.

"Suvarna Vidhana Soudha is alive only during winter session and most of the time it looks deserted. Under chief minister Siddaramaiah, the five ministers should hold meeting at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha before the proposed winter session starts and at the same time before the session starts. Government should name Belgaum as Belagavi, if they failed to do so, a protest using buffalo will held in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha" said Vatal Nagaraj.
