Saturday, December 6 marks 16 years since the first electoral triumph of Bolivarian leader, Commander Hugo Chavez, who defeated right-wing candidate Henrique Salas Romer by more than 17 points. Chavez became the first leftist president in the history of Venezuela. Chavez founded the 5th Republic.
