A video showing a confrontation between a legitimate military veteran in Pennsylvania and another man who was dressed as an Army Ranger has gone viral.
26-year-old Ryan Berk had been at the mall on Black Friday when he witnessed a man dressed as a military member. Berk approached him to get a close look at his camouflage uniform and noticed a few things that didn’t seem right.
He reportedly watched the man browse for a bit before confronting him. With his cell phone recording, Berk greeted him and introduced the man to his son.
After the male shook hands with the child, Berk got straight to the point and began peppering him with questions. Berk called him out a number of times about inconsistencies with his answers.
The man soon become uncomfortable and started walking away, but Berk followed him and revealed he had served in military and made sure to bring up the Stolen Valor Act of 2013.
Berk, who served in Afghanistan and is a recipient of a Purple Heart, later told reporters “To have this guy then pretend that he's done the same thing on the caliber that my friends did, it just gets you infuriated.”
The U.S. military has seen the footage and confirmed the man has never served in the Army.
