A teacher from the United States was fatally stabbed in Abu Dhabi. The 37-year-old victim had been in the bathroom of a shopping mall when the attack occurred on Monday.
According to witnesses, the woman and the suspect had gotten into a fight. The teacher, who is also a mother of 11-year-old twins, was killed with a sharp object after that confrontation.
The assailant was described as wearing a black robe, face cover and gloves, which is common attire for adult females in the Arab Gulf area.
Surveillance footage shows that prior to the attack the individual believed to be the attacker stepped out of an elevator and appeared to interact with a mall security staffer before picking up a newspaper and walking into the restroom.
Approximately an hour and a half later and after the stabbing, he or she ran out of the bathroom and headed back into the elevator. The suspect was able to reach the parking lot and flee the scene.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where she passed away from the injuries sustained during the altercation. Police have recovered the tool used during the incident.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fight and the identity of the assailant.
