Mexican government attempts to limit demonstrations and free speech

2014-12-03 5

A new law was approved Tuesday by the Mexico's lower house that would in effect ban mass demonstrations in the country. Critics say the law gives the state the ability to repress free speech. The bill is titled the "Universal Mobility Law" and gives citizens the universal right to mobility. Mobility in the country has recently been affected by protests and massive demonstrations over 43 students kidnapped by corrupt officials in September. The demonstrations have recently blocked major roads and airports. teleSUR
