Pizza Hut has developed a new smart menu that knows what a customer wants by just looking at the menu.
The digital ‘Subconscious Menu’ lists 20 popular pizza toppings. Diners stare at the screen and in just under 3 seconds, the computer detects which toppings they’ve been looking at the longest.
At that point, the system uses an algorithm to weed through nearly 49 hundred ingredient combinations to create the chosen pizza for a customer. Reportedly the computer can detect what customers want before it registers in their own minds.
Diners get to view and confirm the computer’s choice before the order is placed to ensure no mistakes were made and that everybody is getting what they want.
Pizza Hut partnered with Tobii Technology to create the ‘Subconscious Menu’. They have been working on it for the past 6 months and according to the Telegraph, Pizza Hut's analysis shows that the system is 98 percent accurate.
The technology is still in the developmental phases, however it could eventually be unveiled in restaurants.
