Madrid, Dec 1 (EFE) .- Real Madrid Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti has apologized to Sergio Ramos for not listing his name as a possible winner of the Ballon d'Or and focusing only on the Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ancelotti stressed that if the prize was going to be awarded to a German player, it should be Marco Reus.
Ancelotti has said that the best German soccer player did not participate in the World Cup, in response to UEFA president Michel Platini, who had earlier told Efe that the Ballon d'Or should be for a German world cup champion.
"Sure, it may be won by a German for what Neuer has done. Apart from Kroos and Khedira, who are the best players in Germany, Neuer had a good season," Ancelotti told reporters on Monday at a press conference.
"Everyone has forgotten Sergio Ramos. He scored two goals in the semi-finals and one in the final. Even I forgot about Sergio. I had to ask for his forgiveness," he added.
