Protesters return to Ferguson streets after police officer resigns

Protesters return(ed) to the streets of Ferguson on Saturday night (November 29) after news broke that the police officer who killed the unarmed black teenager Michael Brown has resigned from the force.

The Aug. 9 shooting of the 18-year-old by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson (has) ignited a national debate over race relations and the use of police force in the United States.

The shooting led to sometimes violent protests in the St. Louis suburb, though Saturday's protest was relatively restrained.

In a letter published by the Post-Dispatch, Wilson said he had been told that "my continued employment may put the residents and police officers of the City of Ferguson at risk, which is a circumstance that I cannot allow."
