The preferred method of acquiring a taxi at an event is to use the provided taxi rank pick up point (when the event organizers can be bothered).
Unfortunately the location of said rank is apparently rarely advertised.
Then there's a whole class of people who think "I'm not like THOSE idiots waiting at the rank, I'll walk down the street and flag one down! aren't i intelligent!!", then people see them and walk down a little bit further, it can get ridiculous.
Unfortunately there's many cabbies who will in fact stop and pick them up instead of progressing to the rank.
Then there's the retards to try to flag down a taxi by walking in front of one...
