A Dutch woman has started her expedition to the South Pole. Actress Manon Ossevoort, who leads the Antarctica2 crew is driving there on a tractor.

On November 22nd, she hopped on her Massey Ferguson vehicle and started rolling towards her destination. Almost immediately she came across the waves of hard-packed ice known as Sastrugi.

She managed to make it past the frozen mass, although it did slow the journey. The following day, she and her team seemed to make up for that. They traveled more than 55 miles over the duration of 10 hours.

The tractor is moving right along and operating fine despite the absolutely frigid temperatures. Driving it, however, is another matter entirely.

The cab is closed and the tractor is equipped with suspension and a heater, but regardless, the operators are continuously driving over extremely rough terrain.

Ossevoort, who also goes by the fitting nickname of ‘tractor girl’ and crew member, Nicolas Bachelet take turns sitting behind the wheel, each driving for four hours.

If your questioning why Ossevoort is taking her own tractor to the South Pole or ‘end of the world’, the reason is simple. The trip is part of a performance pertaining to dreams and the effort to achieve them.

She plans to complete the 29 hundred mile journey on December 7th. Previously, she ventured from her Holland home to Cape Town, South Africa on her tractor.

The trip to the South Pole is being sponsored by Massey Ferguson.
