A hotel in Sweden wants those with a large presence on Facebook or Instagram to stay at their hotel for free while writing posts about their trip.
Smart hotels have long understood the powerful marketing value of social media.
The Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden is offering up to a week's stay at their hotel for free.
The catch is a person has to be immensely popular on various social sites. This includes having at least 2,000 private Facebook friends or 100,000 likes, or 100,000 followers on Instagram.
By utilizing "social currency" instead of money, the hotel asks those given the free stay to post about their stay.
Normally, rooms go for $360 a night.
Those with a smaller social media footprint can also receive discounts at the hotel based on a sliding scale.
For instance, a person with only 1,000 friends on Facebook can receive 10% off their stay.
While they're currently the first Nordic hotel to do this, booking website Hotelied.com has been helping users gain hotel discounts relative to their online presence since launching earlier this year.
