Over 30,000 people thronged Addis Ababa to participate in the Great Ethiopian Run, the biggest event in the east African nation’s athletic calendar. Now in its 14th year the race drew ordinary Ethiopians, elite runners and foreigners to take part in various categories. Many said the run had a tough course this year, which included various steep climbs and winding roads around the city. The annual run is one of many mass participation races in the country organised by the Great Ethiopian Run event management company to raise money to support various charities.
