Storms expected to arrive on the East Coast in the coming days will likely make a mess of pre-Thanksgiving travel.

Storms expected to arrive on the East Coast in the coming days will likely make a mess of pre-Thanksgiving travel.

The day before the holiday is traditionally the busiest of the year, with highways and airports packed with people visiting family and friends.

This time around, those plans may be interrupted by heavy snow and rain.

Weather agencies have been reporting that a number of scenarios are possible, including that the storm will get blown out into the ocean.

Increasingly, however, it’s looking like it will end up battering the eastern seaboard instead.

The storm is expected to start in Florida on Tuesday as heavy rains and then rapidly move northwards.

By Wednesday it’s believed the inclement weather will be a major hindrance for those traveling along and around the I-95 corridor.

In the more northern areas, as much as 6 to 12 inches of snow could fall. Further south, rains are anticipated to fall heavily enough to create significant ponding, mist, and low-hanging clouds.

Both manifestations are expected to be severe enough to cause flight delays and challenging driving conditions.

Travellers are advised to keep a close watch on storm updates.
