Not long after Honduras' National police chief, Ramon Sabillon, publicly announced his disagreement with the militarization of his country's police force and demanded that police be better remunerated for their work, his government announced that he was being replaced because he was being re-assigned to a post representing Honduras at the United Nations. Days later, Sabillon and a group of his high ranking officers locked themselves up at National Police headquarters to demand the dismissal of Honduran Minister of National Security, Arturo Corrales, and to continue demanding a general wage increase for police officers.
