Conspiracy theories and rumors of coup plots abound after Honduras, the country with the highest murder rate in the world, let go of its police chief this week. Not long after being terminated, former police chief Ramon Sabillon and a group of his subordinates locked themselves up in the National Police headquarters to demand the dismissal of Arturo Corrales, the Honduran Minister of National Security, as well as to demand a general wage increase for police officers. Thursday, the Honduran government announced that Sabillon was removed from his position because he was being re-assigned to a post representing Honduras at the United Nations. teleSUR
